Benefits of the AUC

The AUC offers a number of programs and benefits to staff and students of member institutions.

Note that many of the benefits listed below are only available to staff and students of full members of the AUC.

Staff Benefits

WWDC Staff Scholarships
These scholarships offer subsidised attendance at Apple's premier developer event held each year in the USA. WWDC is aimed at serious programmers and developers who have a good programming background. Selection is based on a set of criteria established by the AUC and staff applicants must have the support and financial backing of their University. More information.

Innovation Grants (Development & Seeding)
Institutions nominate projects through their local AUDF Co-ordinator for consideration by the AUCDF Grant Review Committee. Successful projects receive funding for Apple and third party products, services and software. Projects that take advantage of, and enhance the value of uniquely Apple technologies will be given high priority. Staff from AUC University's are eligible to apply. More information.

Technical and Developer Training
The AUC offers training for both technical staff and staff interested in developing for the Macintosh. In the past courses run have included Mac OS X Admin Basics and Configuration Engineer courses. More information.

Education Pricing on Apple Products
Staff are eligible to receive special Education pricing on most Apple products available through their University outlet or the on-line Apple Store. They also receive a 12 month worldwide warranty on all Apple desktops and notebooks. Extended warranty is available at additional cost. More information.

Seminars and Presentations
Apple and the AUC hold many seminars and presentations around Australia, many of these focused on Higher-Education solutions. All AUC staff are invited to attend these if interested. More information.

Conference Participation
The AUC holds a number of targetted conferences throughout the year including X World (Techincal Training for Sys Admins), dev/world/ (aimed at OSX & iPhone developers) and CreateWorld (aimed at the creative use of Apple technology in Universitys). Staff are invited to submit papers for presentation at these conferences. They are also invited to attend the conferences and learn about the developments with Apple technologies and how they are being used in the learning, teaching and research areas.

Professional Networking
With the many opportunities to interact at AUC and Apple events, many staff have found them a perfect way to link-up and network with colleagues from all over Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.

Wheels for the Mind Magazine and AUC News
University staff are invited to subscribe to the free edition of 'Wheels for the Mind which is published twice a year. A printed copy will be posted to you at no charge. More information.
AUC News is a semi-monthly electronic news letter delivered to your InBox updating you on the latest AUC and Apple activities. More information.

Student Benefits

WWDC Student Scholarships
These scholarships offer subsidised attendance at Apple's premier developer event held each year in the USA. Student scholarships are aimed at those studying programming or IT in a degree course. Selection is based on a set of criteria established by the AUC and student applicants must have the support their University. More information.

Innovation Grants (Seeding)
Seeding grants are aimed at programmers who currently do not develop for the Macintosh and/or have experience only on other platforms such as Windows and UNIX. Resourcing of each recipient includes a loan Macintosh computer, developer software, appropriate self-study and enrolment in the Apple Student Developer program and CodeWarrior University. Students from AUC Universitys are eligible to apply. (Overseas students studying in Australia or New Zealand are ineligible). More information.

Developer Training
The AUC offers training in a number of developer areas. Courses have included Java and Carbon Kitchens as well and workshops during the AUC Conference. More information.
