Travel & Accommodation
Each delegate needs to arrange his or her own travel and accommodation through either a local travel agent or their approved University travel office. The AUC cannot assist in organising flights and accommodation other than to provide the following information and advice.
Travel
Four major airlines fly from Australia to the west coast of the USA. These are Air New Zealand, Qantas and United Airlines. Some flights are direct (e.g. United and Qantas have a direct Sydney to San Francisco flight) while others go via Los Angeles and/or Auckland with connecting flights to San Francisco.
When making your booking ensure that you arrive on or before 4 January and leave after 9 January. See the FAQ for suggested travel times.
Qantas
United Airlines
Air New Zealand
For those that require domestic flights to connect with international flights we encourage you to use VirginBlue or JetStar where available and convenient. Qantas can also offer cheaper domestic airfares if part of an overall package flight to the USA so try them as well.
Accommodation
The AUC recommends and strongly encourages AUC delegates to stay at the following hotels in San Francisco:
San Francisco Marriott 55 Fourth Street San Francisco CA 94103 MacWorld Rate: $242 | Courtyard Marriott 299 Second Street San Francisco CA 94105 MacWorld Rate: $221 |
The MacWorld organisers have block booked a number of hotels near the Moscone Centre at discounted rates and we encourage you to take advantage of these. Visit the MacWorld hotel booking web site.

It is important that when booking accommodation you have a confirmed booking otherwise you may find you don't have a room to stay in when you get there. A valid credit card is required to confirm all online reservation requests.
For those that want to share accommodation and would like assistance in finding someone to share with, the MacWorld 2009 mailing list is a good place to start. You will be automatically subscribed to this mailing list when you are confirmed as attending MacWorld.
