About the MacWorld Scholarship
The AUC is offering MacWorld Conference Scholarships to assist AUC University members of staff in attending the MacWorld Conference being held in San Francisco in January 2009.
The Scholarship is valued at AUD$4500 plus an extra amount to assist in connecting costs for regional and non-East Coast Universities, see the claims page. The Scholarship is a financial subsidy only and is not intended to cover the full cost of attending the MacWorld Conference, however with good economies such as twin share accommodation it can cover the majority of the cost.
The Scholarship amount can only be used to subsidise the following items:
- Airfares (international and domestic) from Australia to San Francisco
- Accommodation (room and taxes only) in San Francisco for up to 7 days
- MacWorld Conference Registration (Mac IT or higher level package)
- Travel Insurance for up to 7 days (if not covered by your University)
All other costs (including transfers, meals, incidentals, etc) are at your own or your Universitys expense.
Scholarship recipients must ensure they comply with all approval and documentation processes required by their University and that they are recognised by their University as traveling on 'University Business' and therefore covered by University Travel Insurance.
About MacWorld Conference
MacWorld Conference & Expo is held each year in San Francisco in early January. The event consists of an Expo where product manufacturers and distributors exhibit their wares and offer them for sale to attendees. The more valuable part of the event is the Conference which consists of numerous workshops, presentations and conference streams. The MacIT and Pro Conference sessions are aimed at professional users who make a living either using or supporting Apple computers. It is this 'Professional Conference' that the Scholarship is intended to assist staff members in attending.
The MacWorld Conference & Expo web site is a good place to get an overview of the Conference program and other details about the event.
