Timed to run in conjunction with the teaching & learning focussed "Mobility in Education" seminars, these free 3 hour hands-on workshops will focus on the most important parts of the iOS 4 SDK to get you started writing Apps for Apple mobile devices - the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
The workshop is aimed specifically at students who study computing science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, creative arts/design or related disciplines and/or have an interest in developing applications for these portable devices. Staff from member Universities are also welcome to attend. First in, first served!
The presenters are a perfect blend - PhD candidates who are also part of the very successful student startup company "Secret Lab" (the U Tas founders have been working out of California for the past 6 months whilst pretending to study!).
Tag team presenters are Peter Lyle (Secret Lab and QUT), Paris Buttfield-Addison, Jon Manning and Nic Wittison (Secret Lab and U Tas). All are strong contributors to the AUCs' professional development offerings and have received Scholarships and Grants from the AUC.
The workshop will give attendees a comprehensive view of the key features in the iOS 4 SDK along with the tools used to develop applications for such a computing platform. The workshop will include:
- an introduction & overview by an Apple Systems Engineer – iOS 4, Cocoa.
- focus on design, prototyping (including paper prototype), wireframe concept, animation and applied theory of design, App responsiveness and critical analysis
Registration
All workshops are now full, we are unable to accept any more applications.
NOTE: Space is limited to the first 25 participants. You will be advised via email if you are successful. Workshop attendance is limited to staff and students of an AUC member University ONLY.
