Apple University Consortium

The Apple University Consortium is pleased to announce it is offering a number of partially funded places to an iPhone SDK Workshop to be held in various cpaital cities in early 2010. These places will be assigned based on the information provided in the application form.

These workshops are only open to currently enrolled staff and students of an AUC Member University. They are NOT open to the general public.

What is the iPhone/iPod Touch SDK?

The iPhone and iPod Touch were introduced to world the with a revolutionary feature set which changed the way people communicate with and interact with mobile devices forever.

That said the real power of the iPhone and iPod Touch comes from a comprehensive Software Development Kit (SDK) which provides any developer with the ability to write applications leveraging a number of Apple technologies. Using the SDK, writing applications on the iPhone to use Bonjour, handle multi touch events or even handle 3D animations/ transitions is a snap.

Over the last year thousands of applications; whether they be games or productivity applications have been developed for the iPhone/ iPod Touch using the SDK. Whether you are a novice or an experienced developer, anyone can write an iPhone application by simply using the tools and frameworks that are freely available.

In this workshop you will learn the tools of the trade and the most important parts of the SDK to get you on your way to writing cool applications for these revolutionary devices.

Who should attend?

The workshop is aimed specifically at students who study computing science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, creative arts/design or related disciplines and/or have an interest in developing applications for portable devices such as the iPhone and iPod touch. Staff from member Universities are also welcome to attend.

It is expected that those who attend will have some basic experience programming in languages such as C++, C, Java and have an understanding of Object Oriented Programming concepts.
